Halloween is right around the corner! If you are planning on hosting a party, then fun cocktails are a must. Part of what makes a Halloween party extra fun, are the drinks! Themed cocktails are always a great idea. We are excited to share our top Halloween inspired cocktails of 2021!

Halloween Punch

Looks spooky, and can be done with or without alcohol! Great for kids or adults!

Ingredients

64 ounces Cranberry Juice (100% juice, no added sugar)
64 ounces apple cider or apple juice
2 liters ginger ale or to spike it 1 liter ginger ale, and 1 750 ml bottle of aged Rum.
Two 4-5 inch chunks of dry ice
Garnishes : candy eyeballs, plastic spiders, gummy worms, etc.

Instructions

Chill the ingredients a couple of hours before serving. Add all of the ingredients into a big punch bowl. Garnish with either dry ice or the suggested garnishes. For the spiked rum, you can either add the entire bottle of rum, or make spiked servings to order so that the children can enjoy the punch too.

Pumpkin Martini

A Pumpkin Martini is a creamy and flavorful drink! This is an ideal cocktail for impressing your friends at your party. Also great for any Fall time activities or parties!

Ingredients

2 ounces vodka
1/2 ounce heavy cream (or coconut milk for vegan)
1/2 ounce pure maple syrup
2 tablespoons canned pumpkin puree
1/4 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
Graham crackers for the rim

Instructions

How to prepare the rim: Crush gram crackers into your hand and place on a plate. On a different plate, add a small pool of maple syrup. Run the rim of the martini glass in the maple syrup first, rotating it so the glass is evenly coated. Then roll the rim in the crushed graham crackers until the rim is evenly coated.

Mix the drink: Place all of the ingredients into a cocktail shaker. Add in a handful of ice, and then shake it until its cold. Strain the liquid into the martini glass. Enjoy!

Dark and Stormy

This drink is a classic! But it can also double as a spooky cocktail. It’s also an easy one to make if you’re in a time crunch! The dark and stormy is very similar to a Moscow mule.

Ingredients

1/2 cup ginger beer
4 tablespoons dark rum. If you are making the traditional drink, you would use Gosling’s Black Seal Rum.
1 lime wedge
Ice

Instructions

Fill up a highball glass with ice and pour in the ginger beer. Pour the rum on top. Squeeze in the lime, stir, and serve! Can garnish with some fun Halloween decor like candies or fake spiders/eyeballs to make it fun!

Black Magic Margaritas

Who doesn’t love a Margarita?! Well these Black Magic ones are delicious, and the food coloring makes them perfect for Halloween.

Ingredients

2 tablespoons black sanding sugar
2 cups ice
4 ounces silver tequila
2 ounces triple sec
1/2 cup lime juice
Red food coloring
Blue food coloring
Green food coloring
Lime slices to garnish

Instructions

Rim two glasses with a slice of lime, and dip them in the sugar.
Divide the tequila, triple sec, and lime juice between 2 glasses. Stir to combine. Add food coloring until your desired color is achieved.
Add the ice. Garnish with a slice of lime and it’s ready to be served!

Witches Brew Lemonade

This tasty cocktail will get the whole party tipsy! The mix of colors creates a very eerie Halloween effect.

Ingredients

Two ounces Empress 1908 Gin
2 ounces sparkling lemonade
2 ounces Blue Curaçao
1 rosemary sprig

Instructions

Fill a tall glass with ice. Pour the Empress 1908 Gin into the glass. Top with the sparkling lemonade. Carefully and slowly pour the Curacao into the glass allowing it to settle on the bottom. Garnish with a sprig of rosemary.

Cafe O Lei Catering

What is a chocolate tour?

On the chocolate tour, you are taken through the steps from start to finish with chocolate making! The group will be lead through an orchard that includes baby cacao, all the way to mature trees that are blooming and fruiting. You’ll learn about all the other exquisite plants and trees throughout the gardens and orchards. The views on Kupa’a Farms are amazing! From the gardens and cacao orchard you’ll stroll up the drive to take in the most spectacular breathtaking bi-coastal views that Maui has to offer. Once you reach the top of the property, that’s where the cacao and chocolate magic really kicks in on the Maui Chocolate Blossom to Bar Tour. You will learn the entire process from harvesting, fermenting, drying and roasting.

Then, the hands-on group participation begins! You will experience the raw cacao fruit (nature permitting), roasted beans, ground beans to experience the texture change once the cocoa butter is released, and finally the chocolate drink mix before it is steeped. Since this location has a higher elevation, the temperature is not as hot as the rest of the island! You will get to manually crack, winnow and grind the cacao! This is quite an experience, especially for those who have never done it before. You will also get to explore the many flavors of chocolates from around the world coming from different latitudes. Our favorite part is tasting the chocolate!

What is a coffee tour?

A coffee tour, is similar to the chocolate tour but for the coffee plant. You will tour around the farm, seeing the coffee from the plant form all the way to it being made into coffee. If you or your family members have ever wanted to try some local coffee, this is the perfect way to do so!

The Tours

As many of you know, Olowalu Plantation House is one of our top 3 wedding venues in Maui, Hawaii! This beautiful area located in West Maui has a uniqueness about it. Kihei Caffe opened its doors in the Kalama Park Village Shopping Center in 1998. They are located on the south shore of Maui. The Caffe captures the very laid back essence of Kihei Town. Kihei Caffe has been is known for their delicious breakfast and large affordable servings over the years. They are open at 5 am for all you early risers. If you come around 8-10 AM there will be a  line that moves very fast as this is their rush hour. If you are staying or living on the Westside of Maui, Kihei Caffe now has a beautiful location in Lahaina. Think of this place as a Hawaiian style diner!

What do we order?

Cinnamon Buns that are ginormous and out of this world!

Banana Mac Nut  pancakes covered in coconut Syrup.

Loco Moco- A traditional Hawaiian breakfast of two eggs any style on a local beef patty over a bowl of rice and topped off with brown gravy. Substitute fried rice  add Kalua Pork!

Amigos

Are you starving for some authentic Mexican food?! Amigo’s restaurant is one of the few places where you can find authentic and delicious Mexican food in Maui, Hawaii. The service is efficient, friendly, and the proportion sizes will leave you so full you will need a box to take the rest home for later! The menu is affordable so that everyone can enjoy.

They are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner! Their breakfast menu is served all day and we sure do love it!

Try anything from Huevos Rancheros to Chilaquiles. You will not be disappointed.

Olowalu Plantation House

History

Next to the residence was the Olowalu Sugar Company, that began in 1864. This was a journey of Kamehameha V and was later on purchased by the Pioneer Mill. Then, constructed in the 1870’s, the sugar mill was used to refine the harvested sugar cane. Finally, the mill was taken down in 1933, however the ruins are still quite noticeable from the house. In 1922, the house was built for the supervisor and his family members. This was the neighborhood gathering place. The sugar plantation consisted of 700 acres, however, it was being cared for mostly by immigrants-with the last harvest in 1998.

When the Pioneer Mill sold the home, the new owners certainly made sure to keep the historical sites and offer community access. Now, the building is available for special events. The home offers a spacious lanai, looking out at a huge oceanfront lawn. This makes for the perfect backdrop for wedding ceremonies and receptions. Don’t worry, there is plenty of space for wedding preparation!

The Magic

This is a classic plantation house that sits on a beach front property located in Olowalu, Maui. As a private estate, your wedding day will just be your closest friends and family. It rarely rains in Olowalu, therefore, you don’t need to worry about the weather being an issue!
